Looking for a great little hotel to call home while you explore the beautiful city of Venice? Then look no further than this one. A short walk from Santa Lucia train station, the Piazzale Roma bus station, and within walking distance of all Venice’s major attractions, this is our review of Hotel Villa Rosa.

The hotel is situated just off one of its main streets, and down an alleyway which felt very safe to walk down even at night. There is even a great little cicchetti and wine bar down here, which we used a couple of times.

We arrived at the hotel around 8:30pm and on entering the lobby; we were greeted by a lone member of staff and were checked in quickly. At the time of our travels, Italy was still implementing come Covid measures. So, masks and vaccine status were needed for indoor spaces and visiting attractions.

Our Room

The room was splendid, small, but very cosy. There was a big comfy double bed, a wardrobe with space for our clothes, and a small desk. The bathroom was spacious, with a modern sink, bidet, and toilet. The shower was also very impressive. We also had a small wall-mounted TV with a selection of local and worldwide channels.

The hotel has 33 rooms. They are decorated in a typical Venetian style, and had all been recently renovated. The rooms all had the usual facilities like free WiFi, toiletries and a brilliant hairdryer that actually worked. A daily cleaning service was also available.

There was the option of having breakfast in the hotel for an extra charge, and the dining room looked very nice. However, we opted to eat from the many delicious places Venice offers. So, although we can’t rate it, from what we saw, it looked good.

Because of where the hotel is located, there was never an issue of noise. It was perfect.

In Italy, the hotels charge a city tax which we had to pay on check out and at this hotel, in cash only. The amount varies depending on the star rating of the hotel and the length of your stay.
